This workshop was intended to be a cataloging overview that focuses on the basics of the craft, with special attention to the subject area of law and legal materials. As some library and information science programs no longer have a course in beginner cataloging, we wanted to offer it as a function of our professional association. This workshop includes a breakdown of the Library of Congress KF Classification schedule, law-related Library of Congress Subject Headings and subdivisions, construction of statements of responsibility, management of serials, MARC21 basics, and batch-loading basics.
