As legal professionals, our code of ethics, our training, and the laws of civil procedure require that we conduct ourselves with professionalism, honesty, and obedience to the law. These ethical, legal, and moral mandates dictate how we are supposed to treat our fellow attorneys, judges, colleagues, and associates. However, discrimination and bias weave their way into our interactions with one another: sometimes overtly, often subtly. In this CLE on Bias, Diversity, and Inclusion, we will examine insidious forms of bias and discrimination, which have become problems in our legal profession. Using several real-life scenarios, submitted by attorneys and legal professionals who faced discrimination in various forms, we will expose the problem of bias, and explore ways to move from exclusion and discrimination towards equality, respect and inclusion — be it in interactions between opposing counsel, workplace hierarchies at our law firms and companies, and in other professional settings and forums.
All attorney attendees will receive one (1) New York Ethics and Professionalism credit.
RSVP Deadline: February 16
