It’s been a long time since newspapers were hawked on the streets of New York, but you can get articles free from these websites:
- New York Historic Newspapers Colonial times – recent. Allows you to search by county, city, or newspaper and date ranges to narrow!
- New York Public Library With a NYPL card, you can access most states & some international news. For NY research, check out the Daily News & The New York Times !
- Library of Congress all 50 states (plus Puerto Rico & Virgin Islands), over 3,000 newspapers covering the years from 1777-1963.
- Brooklyn Newspapers courtesy of the Brooklyn Public Library. Includes The Brooklyn Eagle.
- Google News Archives everything from L’Abeille de la Nouvelle to the Youngstown Evening Vindicator. Newspapers listed in ABC order, but you can also search across the collection.
